2d Tutorials.....

N/A

I have just downloaded and instaslled the 2d version of Solid Edge. I know very
little about CAD so I have started the first tutorial. I was going along fine till
I got to the part where you draw a hidden line to represent the edge of the circle.
I cannot get this to work. I have tried and tried and it will not show the "dotted
line". Suggestions please........

Michael,
Click on the Line command. You will then see the "Line - Style" combo box as
displayed in the tutorial. It is the left most combo bok on the ribbon bar
that is displayed when you run the Place Line command. Click on the combo
box to drop down the list of available line styles. Click on the style named
"Hidden", if you are running an English version of the software. Place a
line and it should be a dashed line. To change back to a solid line, change
the style back to "Visible". The next line will be solid.

Thanks for the info Rick. I tried it over and over again and finally gave up. Today
while between other projects at work I restarted the tutorial and I guess I misssed
something the first time. It worked flawlessly the second time around.
Thanks,
Micheal

Hello both,
I have the same problem as Michael. My feeling is that in addition to pick the hidden
line I must somehow tell the system (when the cursor is over the circle) that 'now
I want to start the hidden line' by clicking the mouse or something like that. Just
bringing the cursor over the circle does not 'activate' any action from the sw ???
I can make a line by clicking the mouse when it's over the circle.
Best regards, Risto

Risto,
There are two ways you can specify a style for an object such as a line or a
circle. When you start the command to place the object, you will have
controls on the command ribbon bar that allow you to set the style before
the object is created. These controls vary from object type to object type.
For the line command, you will see a Style combo box, and color, type and
width buttons. If you change one of these, the objects placed will obtain
the properties you define.
Once you have placed a line, you can click on the line and it will hilight.
The ribbon bar will display again. If you change the properties, you only
modify the existing selected object.
