Can't quite get the demenisons right


Fan hole 3.542"
fan mounting holes .188"
The spacing between fan mounting holes (4) 3.268"
Can't get 4 mounting holes around fan hole centered
First I tried
1. well the fan is square so need have fan mouted .100" from top of 28.50"
edge then took Calabator measure thickness of the plastic casing it is .045"
adding .100"+.045"= .145 for fan circle
2.I used a calabator measure thickness at Fan mounting holes to plastic edge it
is .92"
Then dividing mounting hole by 1/2 = .094" then .094+.092=.186"
looking at dememisons at bottom they are off

Dan,
I may not be completely understanding what dimensions at the bottom you are saying
are off but I'll take a stab at helping.
I think you are trying to constrain the mounting holes with too many dimensions.
I would constrain the four mounting holes to the center of the circle and then use
the .145" dimension to distance the fan hole from the edge of the piece. The mounting
holes should move with the fan since they are constrained to it. I'm not sure if
this will fix your problem but hopefully it will help you some. See attached image.

To keep a square pattern centered around a round hole you can use 1 of 2
options.
1. Create a diaganol line from opposite corners of the square and connect
the mid point of this line to the center of the cirlce
2. Create a horizontal/vertical relationship between the center of the
circle and the midpoint of the square sides.

Still Can't find horizontal/vertical relationship 2. part
all see is select,draw,relate,intellisketch,insert

Dan,
Are you running V20 or V100 (ST)?
In V20 you have to enable the relationship tool bar to see the
Horizontal/Vertical relationship command. Richt mouse click to the right of
the toolbars at the top. Click on relationships to enable the relationships
toolbar.
In V100 (ST) the command is on the Sketching tab. It is the second button
down on the left hand side of the Relate command group.

still don't understand what is going on
This solid drafting is not working properly I have done everything
both are are lighted in tools also getting blue green measurements and unlined
I trying to center 4) 0.188" circles around Large circle

Dan,
It's not possible to do what you appear to be tying to do. You cannot have the mounting
holes centered around the circle AND also have the upper mounting holes .186" from
the edge AND have the circle .145" from the edge. The math doesn't work. You would
have to change the mounting hole distances from 3.268" to 3.460". See attached image.
