Centerline dimensions in detail view

Hey Guys,

I'm reasonably new to Solid Edge drafting, and I'm hoping someone can help me out with a specific problem that I have.

I have a cross section of a cylindrical revolved part, from that cross section I have created a detail view. In the detail view, I would like to dimension back to the centerline of the revolved feature, even though it is not visible. Is this possible?

I've inlcuded some pictures that hopefuly explain what I'm trying to achieve.

Thanks in advance.

Adrian,

You can actually place dimensions across drawing views and obtain the actual model distance instead of the distance on paper. See the attached image. The center of the top edge of the hole in SECTION A-A was selected as the center point for Symmetric diameter dimensions. then the measure point for the dimensions is clicked in the detail view. The correct value will be derived from the model, not the distance on the sheet. Take care to ensure that the detail view is placed on the side of the source view so that the dimension derives in the same direction. This is a current limitation.

Regards,

Rick B.
