How can I use version 19?

How can I use solid edge 2D version 19. When I renewed my license agreement it forced me into version 20 which I do not like at all. I really like version 19. It is easy to use.

Version 19 and Version 20 are virtually identical from a UI point of view. What is it that is troubling you?

Re: How can I use version 19?

If you saved the V19 installation executable local to your machine and then
runi locally, you can reinstall it.
When you go to the web site there is an option to download an updated
license. So you can have V19 with an updated license.

Re: How can I use version 19?

Perhaps I am confused on the version number. The older version I really like was available in January 2008. That version is easy to use and had a much different look than V20. I know how to use the older version and I really would like to use it again. I tried the V20 sample demonstration problems but they are quite different from the architectural drawings I make. The January 2008 version worked well for me!
Some examples of my many problems with version 20:
1. To edit a drawing and then rename a file I had to hunt all over for the "rename file" button. In the old version the file menu was clearly labeled. In v20 I studied lots of help menus that refered to parts of the screen that were not explained. 30 minutes later, I finally discovered an unnamed weird shaped icon in the upper corner that allowed me to rename a file. Not easy to find, not clear, not fun.
2. Every time I draw a line in v20, it insists on putting in a midpoint hash mark. Very ugly and distracts from the drawing. I cannot figure out how to remove it. Quite aggravating, not easy, not fun.
3. In the older version, I could move a little thumb tack to easily change the reference location. Then when I drew a line it showed the x and y coordinates of the cursor point. Very helpful for quickly drawing members with various spacings and lengths. With V20 I am lost. I do not know how to draw boards at varying distances apart. I have to guess at the distances between the members. I cannot do this in V 20. I cannot use V20.
4. There are lots of other things I do not understand about V20 but do not have the older version (Jan 2008) available to explain the changes clearly to you.
How can I get the Jan 2008 version again? Please.

Re: How can I use version 19?

Carl,
V19 is no longer available.
But I'll try to answer your points below.
1. All file manipulation commands are under the application menu in the
upper right as you state.
This is standard Windows functionality. You will see the same in the
Microsoft Office products.
2. That midpoint hash mark has nothing to do with midpoint, it is a
horizontal/vertical constraint.
It is what keeps a horizontal or vertical line horizontal or vertical.
Without this constraint, the angle of the line can be changed easily.
Do you understand constraints? Do you understand what a connect constraint
does?
A connect constraint keeps lines connected.
You can toggle the display of these constraints on and off.
Use the 'Relationship Handles' button in the Relate command group.
3.In the Draw command group there is a Grid options button to enable the
display of the grid.
There is a drop lost of commmands that allow you to reposition the grid.
Regretfully, the keyin fields for the grid have been removed. We are looking
at bringing these back in the future.
You do not have to key in the exact location when placing the geometry.
To control the distance between geometry, use dimensions to drive the
distance.
Remember 2D Drafting is fully associative.
4. Yes, the UI is different in the newer versions, but is you give it a
change, I believe it will grow on you.
