Thomas, Layers do not control order of display. Layers are more of a grouping mechanism for things like show/hide. You can control the display order of objects. You will need to customize your toolbars to include the 'Bring to Front' and 'Send to Back' commands. Click on View-Toolbars-Toolbars at the top of the application window. In the Toolbars dialog click on Customize. In the catagory list click on 'Modify'. Click and drag the 'Bring to Front' command button out of the customize dialog. Do the same with the 'Send to Back' command button. Drag the buttons into the tool bar area at the top of the application. You can combine them into a sinfle toolbar. You can make the display of an object be in front of all other objects using 'Bring to Front'. You can make the display of an object be behind all other objects using 'Send to Back'. Click on an object to select it and the commands will enable. You can manipulate the display of your images in this manner. Regards, Rick B.
Ricky, I'm having similar problems with objects which appear to be visible at some times but not at others. I have looked for the toolbar menu in the view tab but cannot find it. In my view tab all I see is show, sheet views, style, oroent and window. The Help suggests that sending to front or back is only for demensions not objects.
Mark, Bring to front and send to back works with more than dimensions. It will work with simple geometry. As an example, draw a black line. Draw a green line that crosses over the black line. The green line covers the black line where they cross. If you want the black line to cover the green line, bring the black line to the front. What type of objects are visible at some times and not visible at others? Regards, Rick B.
Ricky I still have two problems. 1) If I right click on a text box I get a 'send to front' or 'send to back' option but on curves and circles I dont see these options. What I have is some circles on one layer, and some show over a bit map and some are masked by it, but I cannot find a way to control this. 2) In an earlier article in this group on 14th October 2008 you wrote "Click on View-Toolbars-Toolbars at the top of the application window. In the Toolbars dialog click on Customize. In the catagory list click on 'Modify'. Click and drag the 'Bring to Front' command button out of the customize dialog" The only toolbar customisation I can find are 'customize the Quick Access toolbar' which does not have the commands you mention. The product version is 100.00.00.133 Mark
Mark, Sorry, there are UI changes between versions. If you are running V100, do the following to add Bring to Front and Send to Back. Click on the 'Customize Quick Access Toolbar'. Click on 'More Commands' in the drop list. Set the combo box to 'Modify' to list the modify commands. Add 'Bring to Front' and 'Send to Back' to the list on the right. Click on Close. This will add the commands to the Quick Access Toolbar. Regards, Rick B.
