Measuring at an angle

I'm using V20 of Solid Edge.
I have a drawing with two parallel lines 5mm apart, but at an angle of 25 degrees.
When I want to put the dimension between them on the drawing it's a very hit and
miss process.Sometimes when I use the dimension tool and hold the shift key down
it will give me the correct measurement at 90 degrees to the lines, but mostly all
I can get is the horizontal or vertical distance regardless of whether I use the
shift key or not.
I can't understand why sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn't and it's very frustrating
to me.
What is the correct way.

Re: Measuring at an angle

Allan,
Use the 'Distance Between' dimension command instead of 'Smart Dimension'
dimension command. Specify "By 2 Points" in the Orientation combo box.
