Opening free2d file in 3d

N/A

I am a new user of Solid Edge software and have recently downloaded free 2d. After
creating a file with free 2d a coworker was unable to open the file using 3d version
19 for viewing. Is that something that we should be able to do?

Chris,
Solid Edge files are upward compatable only.
You downloaded Solid Edge 2D Drafting ST (V100).
Your coworker is using V19. You will be able to open V19 files in V100, but
he will not be able to open V100 files in V19.
If you are looking for a low cost 2D drafting software to use
collaboratively with Solid Edge, I suggest you use the maintenance version
of Solid Edge 2D Drafting. It is still free, but has a minimal maintenance
charge. You will be able to easily maintain the same version of Solid Edge
and Solid Edge 2D Drafting. The maintenance version is only available to
existing Solid Edge customers. There are other benefits to the maintenance
version.
If you need more information, let me know.
Regards,
Rick B.
