Question regarding units

I wanted to change my unit of measure to inches. I changed the page setup to inches
but if I draw, for example, a rectangle the height and width entry lines are still in mm.
How can I get all references to be in inches.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: Question regarding units

When you install the software, you specify the Standard you want to use.
This is done in a dialog that is presented during installation.
The default standard is ISO, which is a metric standard.
To set everything up for English, inch, select ANSI in this standard.
After installation, there is no single place to go to change the standard.
It all depends on you always using one standdard over another.
If you mix files, sometimes inch and sometimes metric, leave it the way it
is.
If you need to always create the other type, the easiest way is to
uninstall.
Then install again specifying the other standard.
You can also simply use File-New. Click on the More tab.
Select the template that matches the standard needed to create the new file.

Re: Question regarding units

How do I get measurements or length of line to be in feet rather than just inches?

Re: Question regarding units

Are you refering to inputs in commands or dimensions?
Or are you refering to both?
First I assume you are working with ANSI standards. Correct?
You specify this when you install the software.
ANSI defaults to inch format, not metric.
You set inputs to feet-inch by doing the following.
Click on the round application button at the far top-left.
Go down to Properties in the list.
Go over and up to File Properties. Click on File Properties.
Click on the Units tab.
Change 'Units' to 'ft-in'.
If you want fractional inputs, change Precision to the desired fractional
roundoff.
Click on OK to make the changes. This changes the command inputs.
To change fractional display you must modify the dimension style.
Click on the Home tab.
In the Dimension command group, click on Styles.
In the 'Style type' list click on Dimension.
In the 'Styles' list click on ANSI (inch).
Click on the Modify button.
Click on the Units tab.
Change the 'Units' to 'ft-in'.
Change the roundoff the same as the precision before.
Click on OK.
Click on Apply.
This sets up the file for feet and inches.
If you want all files to be like this, you must make the changes in the
template file.
The template file is the seed file when you create new files.
The template file can be found in the 'Solid Edge 2D Drafting ST3\Template'
folder.
Open the 'ansi draft.dft' file and make the changes.
I took you through the steps to change the active file so that you know what
to change before modifying the template file.

There must be some problem with installation program. During installation I set default standard ISO. After installation when I started program it run in inches (drawing template and dimensioning). I reinstalled again with default ISO (to avoid possible mistake during the first installation), but result is the same - everything in inches.

Re: Question regarding units

Look in the "C:\Program Files\Solid Edge 2D Drafting ST3\Template" folder. Theer will be template files in this folder. Are all the files named ansi or iso?
