SE2D Project Organization

Recently started learning SE2D to create engineering drawings for a prototype of
a novel renewable energy system. This system has several major components (skid,
blower, reactor, hopper, 1st stage condenser, 2nd stage condenser, gas plumbing,
SCADA) and more coming in the 2nd phase of the prototype development.
I set up a suitable sized work space in 2D model space and a layer for each major
component on a drawing sheet. I started building the 2D model. I got the skid
laid out, went to the drawing sheet, selected the skid layer, created the 2D model
view, went back to the 2D model sheet, laid out the blower, went back to the drawing
page, selected the blower layer and created a model view of the blower.
The blower attaches directly to the skid. I find that I have to be very careful
when I outline the blower on the 2D model sheet when I'm creating the view on the
drawing page or I get bits and pieces of the skid along with the blower. I can
adjust the cropping on the view to eliminate the extra pieces but this component
is relatively simple and square. I don't know how I'd do it if it were odd shaped
with protrusions or something.
Am I doing this right? Should each major component be created separately in the
2D model space then viewed on the drawing page using an alignment command to line
things up? Should each major compoent be its own document file and all the components
assembled onto a system level document? Not sure how to organize the project.

You are organizing geometry by placing the geometry for different components
on different layers. You can hide layers from a 2D Model view. For example,
you can hace the geometry in the 2D Model for component 1 on layer 1 and
component 2 on layer 2. Create two 2D Model Views on Sheet 1. In the first
2D Model View you can hide layer 2. You will see the geometry for component
1. In the second 2D Model View you can hide layer 1. You will see the
geometry for component 2.
