Sheets and Layers


Being very much computer illiterate their is too much I do not know.After finding
out about the question and answer site very helpful been reading old questions all
day.I have been trying to use Solid Edge for about 2are3 years now with some success.
Still too much I have know idea how to do. What are layers used for and how do I
use them. I know their is a good Help section but can`t seem to find answer are
do not understand. Is their any book on how to use Solid edge and where would I
get one.Know that I have found this site I will have lot`s of Questions. would it
be possible in the future to add more instructions on the other things besides making
a drawing .Thank you

Not sure if you found it, but under the Help menu are tutorials that will
show you how to do certain tasks. There is no formal training manual or
class for SE 2D.
In regards to Layers, they are used to store geometry in useful sets. For
instance, you may store dimensions on one layer, object lines on another,
hidden lines on yet another, etc... Or, in the case of a mechanical
assembly, each part may reside on it's own layer. Once you have sets of
geometry on separate layers, you can show or hide the layer, you can make a
layer non-locatable, and you can use them to aide in selecting geometry (see
selection tool options).
