Solid Shield won't install on J: drive

N/A

Attempting to install Solid Edge, I encounter a fatal error early in the process.
My computer has no drive labeled C: (the boot drive is "J:") and the software won't
allow me to proceed. Because J: is the boot drive, Windows XP will not allow me
to rename it C:. Anybody else with this strange problem? Suggestions for a workaround?

Please help us.

Oliver, and others,
Still no success. I followed some advice given by the UGS folks
(they didn't guarantee it, just suggested it) to use the DOS
"subst" command to tell my system that there is a C: drive and
then point it to the J: drive. The SUBST command worked insofar
as I was able to get past the initial error. Then InstallShield
posted a message:
1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.
It was polite enough to give me an "OK" button to press before it quit!

Finally got SolidShield to install despite not having a hard
drive with letter C:. Surprisingly simple -- I plugged in my
stick drive which enumerated as C:, then I installed SolidShield
to the J: drive and Windows was happy.
Oliver -- perhaps such a trick will work for you.

Thank you. It works now. I did almost the same : I have burnt a CD with SE2D and
I installed it from my Cd-rom (CSmiley Happy. The software was installed correctly on my hard
drive (ESmiley Happy.
Thank You again.
