Update of Property Text during document link update

N/A

Hi,
I'm currently writing a short, variable driven list on the drawing, but it won't
update properly when I update the rest of the variables from a linked excel file.
Currently the call out text is as follows:
ARC CUTTING LENGTH: %{arc_allowance}mm; MATERIAL: Section %{arch_mat}; Excess: %{ARCH_XS}mm.
LINTEL CUTTING LENGTH: %{Lintel_allowance}mm; MATERIAL: Section %{Lintel_mat}; Excess:
%{Lintel_XS}mm.
Where all the variables are present and correct in the Variable tables after an
update, but are not updating on the main drawing after an update links is performed.
Anyone got any ideas how to correct this?
Thanks,

Obviously the property text updates when you save! I was trying to get a print out
before saving, now I get a print out after saving.

Under Tools menu, click on "Update All Property Text".

No such command in my menus, I've looked in customise and keyboard too.
Could it be hidden anywhere, as it is a little annoying (not impossible though)
to not have this.

Well, I'm using the full 3D product and they are obviously there for me. I
would think that this command would not have been removed for the 2D
product, so Ricky will have to respond on this one.

Re: Update of Property Text during document link update

I thought I remembered from back in the day I made models of helical gears etc. and
had their module and number of Teeth as property text in a table (I might be wrong,
obviously I don't keep copies of Siemens drawings after I leave their company),
but you can't do that in SE2D.
You also can't use Property Text in a Text Box, but you can use a call out text
feature and disable the leader(?!?!?!?).
I do remember a property text update button on the 3D version.
I'm also quite interested in knowing whether a macro recorded on a fully licenced
version of SE2d can be used on a free SE2d.

Re: Update of Property Text during document link update

Ken, Andy,
This is true. The Update All Property Text command was removed from 2D
Drafting. Displaying custom propertied internal to the draft file seems to
be the problem. Is that correct?
Try this. Document transition will force the update. You should be able to
filp back and forth between Draft files to make the update happen. Create an
empty Draft file to use as the document to transition to.
I will see about adding the command back into 2D Drafting for the Draft
document custom property case.
Regards,
Rick B.

No version of SE has a function to allow recording of a macro. You must use
a programming app (VB or VBA in Excel for example) to create macros, and as
I posted in your other question pertaining to macros, the API layer is
missing from Free 2D so the macro would have nothing to talk to.

It's a pity as I'm specialising in automation of design process for customised design,
and love the SE2d software.
