VB Script/ Macro Capabilities in SE 2d

N/A

I have a load of experience programming Macros and Trail files (Pro/E) and have recently
found Solid Edge 2D for free and want to try it for programming.
I've done a load of design work for Siemens using Solid Edge and its Parameters,
Variables, Functions, Top Down Design and linked documents, so would like to get
cracking on what seems to be a very powerful 2D tool.
Does the Free Download of 2D have programming capabilities (c.f. LISP or Trail files)?
Can someone point me to a FAQ or user guide for the 2D and its use of variables,
functions and programs?

Andy,
SE Free 2D comes in 2 versions of free. The first is completely free - no
up front cost and no maintenance costs. The second has no up front costs
but approx. $360/yr maintenance. The maintenance fee gives you access to
all service packs, support and the programming interface. You will need
version 2.

Andy,
The free download version of Solid Edge 2D Drafting does not have the API
(Allpications Interface) enabled. If you are an existing Solid Edge user,
you can get a maintenance license of 2D Drafting. The maintenance version
enables the API and allows you to write external macros.

That's a pity. So there's no way of tying it in with Office?
Too Bad I guess.
I'll see if I can cope with it being driven by parameters only then!

Not to worry, the subscription wouldn't break the bank, but I'm not sure I need to
program it now, just a few "file renames" in the Excel Macro will sort things out.
I did something similar in ProE once to avoid ProProgram.
Will post results here.
Still loving the free 2D parametrics though. Only the Programing and Patterning
have annoyed me so far, still can't see why they can't keep the pattern as a parametrically
driven function that you can alter through the variables tool.
Keep it up Solid Edge!
