Hi,

is there a way to export the BOM to excel but having it linked with SE so that it updates accordingly.

Thanks.

what specfically are you wanting to update or work with...

there are other methds to do such but AFAIK you can not export an associative BOM...

There are data prep tools and other sort of tools that might help however that are biderectional but user prompted actions.

Our bom is used to order and cut material, but we have to copy content of the bom and save it in a excel files for others to use it and process it through out manufacturing. But when changes are made to this BOM errors can occure if we don't update de Xcel file.  So the "Copy content" and paste to xcel must be redone. As you said , probably data tools are the solution. Is there a vb.net code that I can start from to make my own utility?

Thanks,

An exceptable work around could be to program following steps in your workbook open-event:

1: locate draft of the bom

2: open the draft in solidedge

3: copy bom from solidedge to excel

4: close solid edge.

Or inversily you could couple the save draftevent in solidedge to run a program which will update the excel with the right BOM.

May be this will help you.

Creates the BOM from the Solid Edge assembly within Excel.

You can configure the BOM including:

  • All properties
  • Physical properties like mass or area
  • preview of the parts
  • hierarchy
  • item number
  • table style
  • etc.

An example as PDF is here!

You can download the Excel-Makro here for free:

You just have to register and you will get the download link.

Thanks for the replies!

One year later I finally created a App that batch copys dft boms directly in an Excel form that is used by the project managers. It is not linked to the dft bom ,but when this step is done we are usally done with the bom.Besides it would only cause confusion if the excel bom would update automatically.

But I am looking into your program @Stefan_Mitsch , and trying to find a use, it is very interesting tthanks!
