Is there no property for a drawing view, modelnode, part...
whatever from inside the draft
where I can get back any information about
the view is a flattened psm or the "normal" modelview....?
I'm writing a custom text to the view.CaptionDefinitionTextPrimary
(sapbom number and material thickness) and I'd like
to also add some words to the view, if it's a flattened view,
am I blind - maybe: feeling a bit ill today ops:

the property DrawingView.ViewType could return what you are searching for:
Solid Edge Draft Type Library > DrawingView Object : ViewType Property
Returns an integer to indicate the model options on the DV: 0 = Design body, 1 = Simplified body, 2 = Flat sheet metal or Simplified by config.
