How does variable paste link really work ?

I am trying to (programatically) link variables from one part file to another by editing the formula field of variables.

I note that if part1 has a variable named : V310 ,

then when it is pasted manually as a link

@'C:\cd\Asm1.asm'!'159'

How does the variable name get changed from V310 to 159 -

Can anyone help me with this question ? ( I had thought it was a hex number, but it doesnt quite seem to work)

Richard,

I took a look at the problem and I too cannot figure out how they do it. I'll keep looking into it and let you know if I find anything. I bet you'll have to get an answer from them on this one.

RE: How does variable paste link really work ?

Jason,

if i already knew what my link should be for eg. @'C:\SE Projects\Casing Test 2\Std Wall Front Right End Corner.psm'!'84d'

How would i go about linking (inter-part) programatically?

I tried setting the formula field to the above link but i am getting this error:

System.Exception:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010006): The connection terminated or is in a bogus state and cannot be used any more. Other connections are still valid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010006 (RPC_E_CONNECTION_TERMINATED))
