I'm looking for the most effective method of accessing Insight data. I am creating a program for workstations without Solid Edge. I was going to use Revision Manger, but any instance of Insight Connect draws a SE license.
I specifically want to iterate through assemblies and create BOM's. The dashboard version doesn't suit our needs. I have Greg Chasteens presentation from last years summit, but I don't have .Net. What reference libraries in VB6 do I need to load that would give me the same functionality? I've written other programs using Jet for Access databases, can I use the same method to extract from SQL? I can't seem to find the right reference library in VB6 to access an SQL database.
Are there any other alternative to BOM retrieval for workstations with NO SE license?
Dashboard - out of the box, doesn't work
WebParts - would like to avoid that type of customization
RevManager/FileProperties API - use SE license
Sharepoint - ??
Direct SQL Queries - ??
