Reading physical properties of a model, outside of Solid Edge?

I have a process where I would like to retrieve some of the physical properties of a model.

I can read these using the API with the model open in SE, but would like to be able to read them without first opening the model into CAD. (In a similar way to reading properties using the file properties api)

Specifically, I would be looking to read the units of measure, mass, volume, density, surface area and material.

Thanks!

Chris.

Hello Chris,

i see no way to get to those information without the use of the Solid Edge API.

But by creating and using an Add-In you could achieve to write a copy of all those values needed into user defined properties whenever a Solid Edge file gets saved.

Kind regards,

Woflgang,

Thanks for the reply - I assumed it would not be possible, just wanted to confirm I wasn't just missing something!

Your suggestion on generating and storing the information on save was also the only other method I had considered to find that information.  I'll be doing it that way, then!

Thanks,

Chris.
