SE19 VB - Error Message - Automation Error

When we run the exe of a VB 6 project that has no compilation errors, we get the following error message:

"Automation Error: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients".

and the program ends.

We are not able to locate the reason for this error.

We are trying change a variable of a part file from an Assembly of 100 parts. The SE is hidden.

I can provide more information if you need.

Please help!

It's hard to say without seeing any code. Almost has to be a problem in the code. Reply back with minimal code to reproduce the error.

Jason,

Thanks for the prompt response.

It, however, seems that we have been able to zero in on the source of error.

We will test it to confirm that its indeed so.

Depending on what happens, I'll either post the code or explain the error.

Thanks again.

Jason,

I'm embarassed. It was a foolish mistake - the file extension was missing. We added the extension and the error was gone.

Since we are on this subject, this error has become something of a mystery to us. In many previous occasions, we have encountered this error and it has disappeared without any apparent reason (like we make a new exe of the same code without any change in the code and error is gone). What are we missing? Is memory availability also one of the possible reasons?

Is there more information available anywhere that describes the nature of this error, possibles causes and ways to prevent it. If not, can you spend some time on this to write a few guideleines.

Thanks for you help.

Until you give me some code to look at I can't even begin to speculate where the error originated from. Google'ing for "Automation Error: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients". turns up a lot of hits.

Glad you figured it out though.
