Until now I have developed all the macro and apps that interact with Solid Edge using the old dog VB6. The main reason is that I have very little time to spend on this activities and was easyer for me to start with a simple tool that I did know from the past.
So now I want a fresh start and need to choose what version of Visual Studio to move.
I will write new apps from scratch so I just need to know what version is best to install.
- must be a free tool
- must be visual basic style language
- must be easy to learn
- must be compatible with Solid Edge SDK
I had a look in the past at the Visual Studio Express editions that now it is called Visual Studio Community; is it good to jump on the latest release of it ?
Visual Studio Community is fantastic. The current release is 2015. Historically speaking, the Express versions were a joke. Microsoft has completely fixed any limitation that previously existed. I do all of my at home work using Visual Studio Community 2015.
