file properties for Solid Edge

[ Edited ]

hello, Jason,

i try to use your API for reading/writing file properties for Solid Edge documents.

The reading is ok,but i'have some problems with the writing.

I'm using windows XP and Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Basic).

Solid Edge version is the 18th update 9.

I receive this message when i try to write a file property:

Accesso negato. (Eccezione da HRESULT: 0x80030005 (STG_E_ACCESSDENIED))

Can you (or someone) help me? have you some examples?

Thanks you

(sorry for may bad English)

Hi Mauro,

You set the read-only flag in PropertySetStorage.Open to True. Set it to False to write to the PropertySet.

Copy-Paste's a killer sometimes...

hi Calum,

i have another question for you.

When i write a file property in Solid Edge documents where this property is a value for the feature (lenght of a sheet metal for example)

the property is correctly modified, but if i open the file with Solid Edge, the feature isn't modified, why?

Thank you and sorry for my english.

Hi Mauro,

This is a 'Feature' of Solid Edge. Unfortunately, variables that are exposed as properties are one-way. The property value is always overwritten with the variable value upon saving the file. Changing the property has no effect on the variable, we're still restricted to the Solid Edge API for that.

Cheers

Calum
