Re: 2D CAM (laser, waterjet, plasma) integrated in Solid Edge

Not to get picky here but CAM Express is portfolio of CAM products and runs stand alone.

NX and Solid Edge do have integrations with CAM Express. CAM Express uses translators for other CAD systems.

@12GAGE  If you meant Radan, then you are incorrect. It doesn't operate within Edge, it can import and flatten the 3Dmodels though. But it doesn't match the K-Factors we specify so the flats don't match perfectly unless you have everything set perfectly.

I've not understood the purpose of importing SE parts into a CAM software that does profile work (laser/punch/plasma/etc), when you already have the simplicity of creating the dxf files and importing those.

Now, press brake software, that's another story. AutoPol brought in your SE parts, and that was necessary for that type of work. But, you have to setup all your materials to give accurate results within the software.

@Trikefreakwell, for one it will automatically put the quantity of each part into the nest, so you don't have to key in all of that information for it. And it also automatically detects the sheet thickness. But we also still use dxf's. Radan is generally at least one version of solid edge behind us. So we still have to enter in all the quantity and material sheet info manually and use dxf's.
