Hi!

7.JPGexplodeddiagram1.JPG

The above pictures depict the framework of the top half of my DT project at school.I want to arrange the parts 2-dimensionally so that they can be cut with the minimum possible waste. What is the best way of doing this?

Thanks

Sam

You can insert each part into Draft as a view and then you can manually "nest" them as you see fit.

In industry, people typically will use CAM programs that include "Nesting" software that can do this automatically.

Thanks Grundey.

Sorry for sounding ignorant, but how do I insert parts into the draft as a view?

Thanks again for your help.

I would use the "Symbol" template as it has no border and then in Draft use the View Wizard to place the view orientation you want (Front is default for Parts) at 1:1.  Do this for each part and then move them in relation to one another by dragging with mouse or using the Move command.
