Apply custom variable to multiple existing files

Creator

Hi All,

Need to add and expose a couple of custom variables to a buch of sheetmetal parts. Is there a way of adding the cutom variable and exposing it with out having to go into each existing file and copy past the variable info?

Hi:

A custom macro can do this easily.

I will wait until there are few Me Too clicks or comments looking for a similar workflow.

Chances are @hawcad or some one else is already having such a macro and might share it here.

Hi @SHAYNE

@Tushar is right when saying there already is a macro doing something similar You requested.

The only minor issue is, that AFAIR it only creates those variables within the current opend file.

So far there is no batch job implemented.

I will look for the macro, will do a short translation to English, so that everybody will be able to use it and then I will it post here

Wolfgang

Hi Edgers,

Hi @SHAYNE

Hi @Tushar

attached You will find the translated amcro SE_Expose

You can define any variable You wannt to be added in Your SE file within the Expose.lst file

The syntax there is explained to but very easy to understand.

Variable Name;Unit Typ;Formula (if wanted)

The Unit Typ list of Solid Edge is seen in the PDF

Define our variables (see the 2 example lines) and run the macro.

I just have tested it here  with ST10 and it works.

Wolfgang

@hawcad that's awesome, you always already have a macro for all imaginable scenarios.

Do you also share them on any site. Sorry I am not aware if it is available out there.

@SHAYNE if you still need to apply this on a bunch of files, I can think of integrating into the Solid Edge sample Batch macro, how many files you want to process ?

Hi @Tushar

thanks for the acknowledgement of my macros.

You can find a set of free macros at my homepage under Solid Edge and Free Macros (kostenlose Downloads)

Sorry for having the homepage in German only, so this could be a handicap for many of You.

This also is the reason that I share them via the forum giving English explanations to help You using them.

A  modification of the Expose macro to put it into the batch macro code will be possible

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

Where is your home page ?

I searched Google for "hawcad solid edge wolfgang macros" but it did not list.

It is also not seen on your public profile:

https://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/8370

And, not an issue, I will learn German for your macros (or simply use Google TranslateSmiley Happy )

Just tell me where your download site is.

Thanks.

Regards,

Tushar

Hi @Tushar

in the first moment I was really surprised, that wthin my profile ther should not be any info about my homepage.

So I did a view into and also followed the given link from You, and there I can see

homepage: http://cadcam-consult.com

There You will see entries on the left, where You should select Solid Edge and from there follow to the given Link "Kostenlose Downloads" which means "Free Downloads"

Sorry to say, not all existing macros are available from there but if I have any solutions ready to share, I will give it via the forum too

Wolfgang

Hi Edgers,

another info regading the SE_Expose macro.

I have used an older version of that macro for translation - sorry for that.

There is a midfied version avaiilable too, which also handles the input of ranges for the variables.

If this also will be an issue, please let me know, I will provide an English version then as soon as it will be possible to do for me.

Sorry for all inconveniences due to language and old posted version

regards
Wolfgang
