Area Moment of Inertia

Hello,

I'm trying to determine the area moment of inertia of a cross-section of a part.  I'm currently streaming the trial version of ST9; I have been able to find how to do this on older versions of the software on Youtube and other forums, but haven't seen anything for this specifically.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Area Moment of Inertia

Hi there @Gguy,

In your draft file, go the "Inspect" tab, then under the "Evaluate" group use "Area" command on your section...then once placed, select the area results "Properties", which should have your moment of inertia information.

Here is a short video....

Hey @SeanCresswell,

That solved the problem for me.  I thought that was where to go, but "Area" was always greyed out.  Turns out I wasn't in a draft file.  Thanks!

Re: Area Moment of Inertia

You can also do this within the scross-section sketch of a model.

It appears that the values are also added to the variable table - thus they can be exposed in a drawing.
