if you use boolean from assembly to a hardware part this should happen for you automatically.

Hi @TiagoFigueiredo

by the way, the IMHO best You also can do is to look into the tutorials.

Go to the help page of the path finder and walk through the "learning path" and the "Solid Edge Help"

If  You download the self-paste tutorials You wil get 1000s of pages with examples and explanations

I just had a very long talk with a new cad guy I am training yesterday about a related subject. Our conclusion was that the desired results are impossible.

What I am looking for is a way to have the hole for an object to be inserted with the object. But here are the obsticles that I think prevent this from ever happening.

- the hole needs to be added to sheet metal in a way it shows up in the flat pattern. So assembly features can't be used.

- The item associated with the hole will live in the hole. So a process must include the sequence of creating the hole than adding the object

- The item is a simple in house created part.

The deal breaker is that the operation needs to effect two files. The hole is added to a sheet metal part, but the object to live in the hole needs to be another part in the assembly.

So no way to get that done. Does anybody know a work around to create a single step operation to add a hole and object in a single step. If there was a way to do this, then the required hole size for each object to be placed in holes could be saved with the object.

As a simple example, I want to place a coupling placed half way through a piece of sheet metal. The hole is oversized 1/16" from the hole.
