Associative Part Views or Blocks

I'd like to be able to create an assembly drawing and use the parts/views in the assembly for my detail drawings.
For example:
I made an assembly on the 2d model sheet and would like to use the same geometry in the assembly to create my part drawings on sheets 1,2, and 3.
Is there any way to keep the geometry associative or linked?
Should I be using blocks or creating views from the 2d model sheet?

It depends on the complexity of your draing (assembly). There are a couple of ways you can do this. You can use layers to collect the geometry for each part. Then you can show hide the layers acordingly. One thing you can do in 2D Model Views on the working sheet is to hide layers that are shown in the 2D Model drawing area.

Depending on how many different parts you have and how many copies of each part you want to include in your assembly, you can create blocks for the parts. You can then place the blocks on layers to show hide them. Be careful with blocks and layers. You can have the geometry in a block on a layer and then the block on another layer. Hisind either layer will turn off the display of the blocked geometry.
