Attribute Editor Macro in imported DWG files

[ Edited ]

The attached macro can be used to edit Block Attributes when DWG files are imported into Solid Edge Draft.

I wrote this macro to help migrate a reluctant AutoCAD user to Solid Edge who wanted this functionality. A block with attributes from DWG is converted to a group with text boxes in Solid Edge and a Bottom-Up selection mode could do the trick but the user insisted on having a dialog UI similar to that in AutoCAD.

Note: This program cannot be used for editing a Block Label in Solid Edge block for it is a completely different animal.

Here's a video:

Download the program.

If you find the macro useful, kindly do share your experience and the scenario.

Suggestions to improve the program are welcome.

Great work on the macro!

Does anyone know if a macro exists for opening .dwg files and re-saving them as .dft, I have over 900 .dwg files i'd like to convert to .dft and was kinda hoping there was an automated method to do this?

Look at the Batch.exe provided with Solid Edge under "C:\Program Files\Solid Edge ST8\Custom\Batch\Bin"
