What is the trick to posting Video? Every time I try it give me an error saying wrong file type. I know the file type is correct.
My reseller will not help me with this. This was The responce form the reseller:
"After doing some digging I found that that falls under the website itself and that unfortunately Siemens support doesn’t have anyone that works on that so you will have to try posting the question on there and asking for assistance from them. Sorry about that"
Solved! Go to Solution.
I'm looking into this. Can you give some additional details, such as size, type of video?
Easiest way, is create a YouTube account, upload at desired level of public visibility, then when posting a video here, select "From the Web" tab & past the YouTube link....
The Youtube method is what I normally do, but I tried to just upload an avi and an mp4, and neither worked. I've got both types of file already uploaded, but I couldn't do it again. So something is different from normal.
Attempting to upload small file
This time I get a new error for the first time. I don't have permission to load the file. It's a local to my computer issue.
Now my questions become.
How can I change the location where the vid is created to begin with?
There are still traces of the past user on my computer I don't know how to eliminate. apperantly the vids are being created in an area I'm not an admin for.
Going a step back, here's a method that I found always works for me:
1. Use Solid Edge's Upload to YouTube command found in the bottom right corner:
2. This needs a YouTube account but the command itself accepts ANY video format FLV, MP4, WMV, MPG, etc. so you can upload virtually any video even if not recorded using Solid Edge.
In the Browse file dialog, type *.* for the file name, press <Enter>:
3. Also check ON the box for Copy Video URL to clipboard:
4. All types of videos are uploaded as MP4 to YouTube and the file size is reduced too.
5. Now that the URL is copied to clipboard, switch to this PLM forum and simply paste it into the 'From the Web" tab:

There is of course, another free method [pre video capture directly from Solid Edge]... "JING" from Techsmith http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html, and just paste the video link in amongst the text
Thanks for the plug too @Tushar
The Techsmith + Screencast method is foolproof, but long forgotten.
I could see it being used frequemtly on this forum until January this year.
Not many sightings after that.
Referring to 12GAGE's comment "I don't have permission to load the file." puzzles me in that the video could be stored at the Unigrpahics's roaming profile location, why it cannot be accesed ?
