Hi all,

here's a video showing the problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOLD-3wXsLo

I'm having trouble lofting or bluesurf & stitching. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks

Luke

Thanks for the video, it explains the problem pretty well.

First, notice that when you do get that blue surf to work, areas of it look funky. What's happening is that it looks like it's intersecting itself. If you just bluesurf from the four-sided curve to the circle, a section of the surface is going to go through the cone, so I think that part of what you should get isn't exactly what you are looking for.

To get results, I would start by making 4 additional curves, one from each corner of the four-sided curve to the nearest point on the circle. Be aware that the surface is going to work like a woven fabric in that it has threads that cross at right angles. If it gets twisted or stretched too far, the feature will fail. These 4 additional curves will specify explicitly where on the circle the corner will map to.

To make this a solid, you have a few more steps, but lets try to get this part the way you want it first.

Thanks for the replies. Attached is the part assembly.

I've never learned suface modeling. We use Solid Edge for nuts and bolts type assemblies in school. This project is requiring me to work way outside my comfort zone with Solid Edge. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can approach this part, I would be so grateful.

I'm trying to make three swept cuts through the body which slip fits to a Yamaha recorder. It's intended to relocate the holes to an area which are more accessable to our client.

The part file is very disorganized. I haven't had a chance to clean it up yet.

Thank you for your help

Luke

Hi,

Thanks for model. And could you provide a photo about recorder?

It will be useful to see loft detail.
