We received a .dft file which was done with ST9. We can open it and we actually can change the dimensions which are already placed but we cannot place new ones. We cannot do anything with the principal views (select, delete, place dimension etc.). Anyone has any guesses why?
We also got the .psm model file but there was no link in the .dft to update. My guess was that the views have been converted to 2D but we still should be able to place dimensions from there or at least delete the whole view.
Make sure your license is correct. It sounds like you are using a Free 2D Drafting license. 2D Drafting will dumb down the software. An easy way to tell is to see if you have all of the drawing view placement commands.
If running the Free 2D Drafting license of Solid Edge, I believe one of the restrictions is that you cannot annotatate/dimension views placed from a 3D model as it only allows for viewing those type of drawings. Free 2D Drafting is meant to be used for a 2D only workflow not involving 3D models.
