Center of gravity in a 2d drawing

I have an assembly and have a 2d drawing created. How can I show the center of gravity on the 2d drawing as derived from the items in the assembly.

Thanks for any help

First update the mass in the model then set the properties of the view in Drafting.

It can be done, go into the properties for the view and with the top level assembly selected click the list all button, that will expand the items shown, turn on the center of gravity view. Because you have not changed the default the COG mark is a single dot, you will need to change the COG symbol in the options to something you can actually see, I made a COG symbol block and used that for my drawings.

Sorry I can't be of more help, I don't have SE installed on this computer at the moment.

I've been using this functionality lately and came away a little disappointed that I know of no way to define a COG (Center of Mass in SE speak) based on a configuration.

It always displays the CG in the draft for the whole assembly. All those with physical properties on in occurrence properties that is.

So what I do is select the parts whose CG I want, do a screen shot of the Center of Mass numbers in the physical props dialog after doing so, turn on the the planes or coord sys in the drawing view of interest, then place an object in draw in view, my CoM block typically, and dimension to it from there using the screenshot numbers. Put those dims on the auto-hide layer, etc.

If occurrence properties could be saved with configs I suppose that would be another way. But don't think they can.

@bshand Not tested, but can't this be done with a family of assembly?

Hi @bshand

do You want to show the COG from every single part?

I know that there is a macro which is adding aspehere to the COG, if this helps

Maybe. Didn't try it but I'd rather do what I do than mess with FoA.

No, I needed it for select configurations of sets of parts and assemblies within an assembly. One for a shipping arrangement, one, with more components for placement in a factory.

Hi @wbrokow1

what do You mean with "High Quality View Properties"?

In which context is this related to the COG reuquest, or isn't it?
