Create a flat pattern from an a extruded part?

Experimenter
Experimenter

I have a formed part that was created in Solid Edge from a .DXF file (using the "create 3D" command). Now, I'm needing to create a flat pattern (with bend lines shown) for the part to be manufactured.

The flat pattern command does not recognize any of the faces on the part. I am only able to create a blank body flat plate. Any ideas on how to show the bend lines? 2D draft only is okay.

Hi there @k3vnR,

For that functionality to work, Solid Edge expects the model to be in the Sheet Metal environment, and "converted" via the "Thin Part to Sheet Metal" command, so that it can be restructured a sheet body. You may need to "Rip" certain edges to to allow it to develop out.....hard to say what you'll need to do, without seeing your part model. HTH.

If you translate a file in that has a common thickness on all sections, you can convert the part to sheet metal...

Convert thin part:

Convert solid part:
