Curve Import

Hi,

I am trying to work with a set of curves "imported" into SEst9 from Rhino as a STEP file.

They come in OK as "part copies" and I can use them as they are, but I want to edit them and can't.

Is there another way to bring them in so that they can be edited in SE?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Wolfgang and thanks for the quick reply.

Attached is a typical file.

I would like to edit the curves within SE.

I hope this is OK.

Thanks again.

Hello Wolfgang,
Sorry, I don't think I replied to you correctly - I'm new to the forum!
Can you see the file I posted?

Hi @spcad

Yes I have seen the Step file, I have opend it but I must tell You, that due to they are only Üart Copy elements,
do not see a possibility for changing them.

You only can use them creating new geometry

Hi @spcad

see a picture from the example where I have created a "KeyPoint Curve" based on Your original surface:

Hello, thanks for the example.
I this case I need to edit - basically smooth - the curves first and then create the surfaces. The file I sent was just an example showing the import/edit problem.
Are you saying the only way to do it is to re-draw the curves in SE by drawing new curves on the imported curves? Then delete the imports?
If so, would this be possible for 3D curves as well?
Thanks again.

You mentioned curves .... and curves as well?

Hello Wolfgang,
Yes, I need to "import" a series of curves into SE that have been drawn in Rhino and exported as a STEP file. There will be both 2D and 3D curves.
Next, I need to edit the shape of some of the curves, before using them to produce a surface model in SE.
Editing them is the problem as they come in as "part copies".
I think you were suggesting re-drawing them in SE, to produce new curves that SE could edit and deleting the original curves, is that correct?
If so, will it work with 3D curves as well as 2D?
This will be quite time consuming, so I was hoping there was a better option.
Thanks again

Hi @spcad

OK, Yes the image I have shown was a 3D curve using the "KeyPoint Curve" function of SE Surfacing
