see image i want the text orientation of hole call outs, radius/ diameter callout (using smart dim) to be HORIZONTAL. when i change this in the styles settings it messes up the other linear dimensions (the ones with a red cross). i want those to be parallel and above the line.
is there way to sort out all three independently?
hole call outs - horizontal with a line under them
radius/ dia dims - horizontal with a line under them (as shown with the red tick)
linear dims - parallel and above line

Try saving different settings to it's own Style, then you can choose how you want each dimension to display. You have gone into the Style settings, but you need to save that setting as one type, and the other settings as another Style.
You will not get this with one single format style.
So You have to define at least two of them, with parallel and with horcontal text
Those two styles are to be defined for use in certain situations in SE options
hi @hawcad yes it has i was just trying it out and then was going to mark as solved.
one more thing is there a way to get the extension line for hole call outs? like shown in the image earlier with the red pen
Thanks, but i only get this option when i am placing the call out. where i can adjust this in the setting so any call out i place it automatically places above the line.
also i dont know why there is an arrow head embedded in the call out??
update on your dimension style answer - i am using my background with that setting saved on there but those options where i set the radial dimensions and circular dimensions they have reset back to the main one. not the hole specific ones.
so those three highlighted settings -
