That drove me nuts too when I was updating our company name plates and tags for SE. How can you precision dimension text when you can't dimension to it, come on you can do this in autocad.

Hi,

but if YOu use a grid with zero point at page corner, then You can move the first object to Your desired position and from there You can align all the others.

@hawcad Alignment shapes ignore grid snapping. So it seems you're stuck with eyeballing and then moving the shape a fixed distance.

I would like text to have an origin based on its justification like Acad. I think SolidWorks text had that too. And it would be useful if alignment shapes had something to snap to as well.

Hi,

OK, now I have seen and understood.

The only way I have found now, is the way I described above, using a circle at specific position and fixed.

You can use the circle centerpoint for aligning the shape points

@hawcad

"You can use the circle centerpoint for aligning the shape points"

How? The alignment shape doesn't snap to anything.

Hi,

to be precisly

You can move the alignment point exactly onto the circle center.

This is an one time action not permanent alignment

There must have been a hiccup with my session because now alignment shapes do snap to a grid and other stuff. So even the circle is unnecessary.
