Hi,

Start View&Markup and go to "Insight" tab. There you will see some commands, but you have to use "Create Unmanaged copy".  Select your file or folder and go...

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

If you are trying to do a complete dump of all files from Insight, then please contact GTAC directly -- we have a utility available to dump all files from Insight to unmanaged.

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

Hello uk_dave! And Thank you for your information!

It's exactly what I'm trying to do (a complete dump of all files from Insight). Can I find that "Utility" here: ?

And, just one more question, do you know how long it takes per .asm about 40k components?

Thx one more time!

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

The utility is *not* available for download and as stated, you must contact  GTAC directly to request the tool.

For one customer, the tool dumped 25,000 files in approximately 1.5 hours.  Of course that number will depend on many factors, including if you try to dump to a network location (don't).

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

uk_dave,

I contacted GTAC and now I'm waiting for an answer. Can you tell me the name of this "Utility"?

Thx!

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

Hello Imics,

did you request the "Utility" too? And Using "View and Markup" did you take a long time?

Thx!

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

Does this utility resolve any broken links, or just extract the data out of Insight?

Re: EXTRACT FILES FROM INSIGHT

No, this utility will not resolve any existing broken links.  It simply will ensure that *all* Solid Edge Insight data is dumped to unmanaged in a way that replicates the existing Insight folder structure.  You would need to to use the data prep utilities to resolve any issues.  This is not an unexpected behaviour - you should always use data prep to massage your data before importing into Teamcenter (or any other PLM system), regardless of where the data originated (Insight or some other source).
