Hello all,

Good Morning...!

I am trying to make a mirrored part by using 'part copy' of a sheetmetal part with 'etch' feature, but unfortunately etch feature was not reflecting in the newly mirrored part. can some one help me in this regard...

Thanks in advance...!

Re: Etch feature in part copy

Hi,

To get the etch, you will need to do this in two steps.

Step 1:

- In Ordered mode, insert Part Copy of the sheetmetal part (and mirror as needed).

- Etch will not be displayed at this time (nor available in the parameters step).

Step 2:

- Insert another Part Copy of the same sheetmetal part.

- In the Part Copy - Parameters Step dialog box, deselect Design Body and select Curve Body (your etch feature is considered as a Curve Body).

- Accept.

You will now have two Part Copy in the Pathfinder.  One Part Copy for the part and one Part Copy for your etch.

Hi @Michel_Corriv

but the curve body has no connection to the part body and the feature will not be considered as an etch!

So creating the flat pattern results in an flat pattern sheet with no etches in it.

And You can not use that curve body for etching - etching here even is inactive.

Re: Etch feature in part copy

Hi @hawcad,

Your totally right on this.

I forgot that this curve will not treated as an etch.

So, we will need to create a new sketch, include geometry from that "Curve Body" and then create a new etch.

Thank you for bringing me back on track :-).

Hi @Michel_Corriv

the other issue is, that - what I have seen - the etch command still is inactive in that moment.

So You will not be able to create an etch feature anyway.

Is this a ST10 issue or can this be reproduced by somebody with an older version too?

Wolfgang

Re: Etch feature in part copy

Hi @hawcad,

On my side, I'm able to Etch the sheetmetal part (after having created a sketch).

See attached files (ST10).

Regards,

Michel
