@RFPSteve

I am glad I could lend you a little encouragement!

The exploded image I sent was just one portion of a 16 sheet drawing containing at least 12 different exploded view configurations and 28 section and detail views.

We always want to be faster with everything we do and of course do it in a more simple, foolproof way. I do not recall how long it took me to do this work, but as it had to be done and there was no better way to do it, I claim success.

Bob,
I have done a fair amount of exploded view as well but i have recently come across the bind command a few months ago. Now i have an asm where i would like to bind some of the components togather but the command is not lit up. i know the help says to select the parts in the pathfinder first but my pathfinder only shows the top level. what am i missing or forgetting?

looks like you have your pathfinder hidden.    you are seeing your exploded PF...

hit the expand arrow on the Exploded PF and try to turn back on the assy PF...

note that it may be hidden underneath the exploded PF.

I wonder if you are misusing BIND command.

It is my understanding that all bind does is treat a sub-assy as a single unit.

I do not believe you can select multiple parts randomly and choose to "BIND" them to act as a single unit.

You can, however, select multiple random parts and move them and/or explode them as a single group.   They will then get their own explosion event that kind of works as a grouping mechanism...

But the Bind command only works on a single sub-assy per bind...   it's really just a toggle.   treat the sub assy as individual parts or treat the sub-assy as a single unit...

HTH?
