FRAME ENVIRONMENT: Adding Features to Frame Members

I would like to find a better way to add features to the tube frame members in the frame environment.  It apears that the only way to modify frame member components on a frame in Solid Edge "Frame Environment" is to use the "cut" command in the "assembly" environment.  This command is limited, and forces you to use the "include" command in the sketch profile.

It does not let you do an "Extrude" Command.  Is there a way to do protusion, for a tongue and groove connection, and is there a better way to add features to frame members in the frame environment?  Note, We use teamcenter.

It does not appear that Solid Edge Frame Environment was set up to add features to tubing.

We use ST3.

Have you got an example of the finished item? A photo of something similar to what you are trying to model?

This seems like a very unusual way to join frames together, looks to me like it would take an awful lot of effort to do.

Maybe someone around here could advise you on a better method.
