I know you probably aren't interested in this, but for diamond or treadplate, I have two different blocks set up that depicts the pattern, one in phantom lines, the other in solid. Works well, and it doesn't take all that long to place.

I will end up using hatch patterns and trimming till I can find a better solution in 2D. I would be interested in the hatch patterns you have set up for diamond plate.

I don't have hatch patterns set up. Just predrawn blocks I use.

 

Here's the one I use for diamond plate. It's in phantom because usually the diamond pattern goes on the outside of things, and I like to make my flats as bend up whenever possible. Also Including one of the one's I use for decking.

Thank you Nominus. I will give this a good look when I get back to sheet metal tasks.

 

Today is my first day of attempting welds and it has not been going well. I appear to always have geometry that is one step too complex.

Yeah everything but fillet welds or label welds don't usually go that well for me.
