I have an issue with an older version of SE (ST3) that I have no idea where to start.
I have a user that, when he goes into a particular assembly, he is unable to see the part being edited and the background parts at the same time. Either he sees the part being edited by itself (pic 2), or the background parts without the editing part being shown (pic 1).
We ran into this about a month ago and wrote it off as a video issue and since we were scheduled to upgrade the computers soon, we agreed to just work with it. Now that we have new computers, it has reared it's ugly head again. This issue only happens with 1 or 2 assemblies. All other assemblies have no issue.
Current video card is Nvidia K4200 with 4GB video memory.
System has Xeon 3.7GHz with 36GB Ram
ST3 with Service Pack 12
Any ideas where to begin?
are you sure you hve no section views or clipping planes turned on?
and how about show/hide previous level while IPA?
can you share this assy and the parts in a .zip folder?
Clipping and section views are off.
The pictures above are being done in assembly environment with a sheet metal in place edit.
The attached picture is the Options -> View while in sheet metal environment.
I am unable to share the assembly since it's a prototype.
I think it's probably Matt's second suggestion. While editing the part in place right click on the top level in the pathfinder and toggle "hide previous level" or just hit ctrl-q.
Hate to say this, but the first two pics are the same view with pressing Ctrl-Q being the only difference. No panning or zooming.
Not sure I follow...Are you confirming that it is or isn't hide previous level?
PIC 1 is with "Show Previous Level"
PIC 2 is with "Hide Previous Level"
While "Show Previous Level" is active, the part that you want to edit in place has disappeared.
While "Hide Previous Level" is active, the part that you want to edit in place is showing.
Right, so it's working as designed.
Edit: My apologies. I didn't notice that the part just wasn't there. I thought it was an opacity setting problem and the part was hidden. Either way it wouldn't be "as designed".
Does it happen on other machines with the same assembly?
Does Backing Store graphics setting help?
Check the models for geometry errors. Geometry Inspector.
