HOW TO DIMENSION FROM THE MIDDLE OF A CURVE - SYNCHRONOUS

Hey guys, im a complete solid edge noob. ive just started to use solidedge after 10 years working in solidworks. first off, synchronous is brilliant!!

ive spent the last two weeks checking out a bunch of youtube videos and i think its a great system. so much so im not even craving solidworks!

im currently stuck on a problem.

ive attached an image below

ive just created this sheet metal part.

the way it works at this job is that the chief designer only works in 2d. he creates a dxf of the part he wants and sends it to me to turn into 3d and then i create drafts and then add to assemblies etc etc...

he also specifys critical dimensions that i need to acheive after the bend process.

basically i need to move the bend position using dimensions in synchronous

what im having difficulties with is selecting the middle of the curve with the dimension tool. it doesnt seem to select.

ive tried changing the snaps with no success .

any suggestions?

thanks very much

Try selecting as shown before selecting the quadrant.

i dont get any snap points feedback when i hover over that line.

it just seems to not recognize that as a line.

Hi,

I suggest using "Live section", you will get selectable 2d elements!

@Imics to the rescue again!

I still don't get why you can't pick that quadrant without a live section.

Could you attach that model?

we are only running st4 so i cant record my screen to show you.

attached is the file in question.

thankyou for having a look for me much appreciated.

i telephoned our reseller to find out how much a day of training would be.  i think the sales guy needed to get up his comission for the month as my jaw hit the floor when he told me he wanted $2000 for a single days training!!!!

needless to say that you tube cant teach me everything, so i appreciate you spending the time to investigate for me.

kind regards Joe

Thanks. Glad to try to help. Remember to check @Imics' answer as the solution.

In the meantime I'm curious as to why you couldn't do what I said on that part.

Edit: I opened the part and was able to do it without the live section no problem.
