Hole table

Experimenter

Quick question,

When I use a hole table and add callout, when I select the holes the resulting table just shows the diameter of each hole and not the info in the callout i.e. thread size. The callout column is shown but nothing in the cells. How do you specify if a hole is threaded or not, or counterbored come to that?

are you dimensioning a 3D model or working with simple 2D drawn geometry?

Those properties are read from a 3D model.

Hi there @Anthony_S,

When making 2D drawings, you have to remember, the majority of the tools available in Solid Edge, are geared towards using views from 3D part & assembly models, where the callout text formatting pulls the inherent design information from the model features........whereas in 2D only Solid Edge, you are dealing with pure profile geometry, so you would need to annotate the threaded holes manually, and as @Johnson_BigMatt says, you should set up a few blocks [named accordingly] for the holes you need, and then use the callout reference text "%{Block Name|GBLM}" to add some intelligence to it.....see attached video.

I don't think you will get the hole table to work though.....unless it can be configured to read block data. I have never done this, so can't advise if it is even possible.

HOW DO I SAVE HOLE TABLES ECT, SO I DONT HAVE TO RECREAT THEM EVERYTIME. THIS DIDN'T USED TO BE A PROBLEM.

Hi @grasshole

no need for screaming out loud (capital letters) just use the save table option which You will found in any table and also leaders, symbols etc.

They are saved under the "Reports" folder of Your desire ("File Locations under SE options)

Define Your settings once and save it under a certain name

i'm sorry i was so loud, i'm always in caps, no offense meant. yes, i know how to save the style to my reports folder, but that is not the problem. the problem is saving the table style and text styles. the table line styles and font sizes ect, have to be set to our preferences evertime i creat one. how do i save the styles in the style types menu. i dont know where that data is stored.

Hi @grasshole

OK, those settings are stored as format style in the document.

So that means You have to save it in Your template, but You can Organize it too.

This again means, You can copy it to the default file for such settings, which is the material database (what in fact is nothing more than a zipped part file) and from there it could be resotred back to any existing and also new file
