Horizontal alignment and dimensioning

Hi,

I placed this circle horizontally aligned with the center of the part.  I can move it left and right without any problems.  I want to dimension this circle so it's 1.75" from the center of the part, but when I use the Smart Dimension button, it gives me a blue driven dimension.

What's driving this dimension?  I did not create any relationship other than the horizontal alignment.

It looks like some of your other geomtery and dimensionsare in the error color. I can't be sure that is giving you the problem, but that would be the first thing I would check.

@Bob Which color is the error color?  I have red and blue dimension colors.  One of the sketches was selected when I took the screen shot and that's why one is orange colored.

Depending upon your selection color, that could be what I am seeing. The error color is commonly called babe s%&t brown and it looks much like the color in your sketch.

Is the button shown selected as unlocked when you place a new dim?

No, the padlock is locked and it says Dimension - Driving.  I can use it for other dimension, but this particular one is not working for me.

Gold stuff in SE is bad.

Try deleting the two circles and redoing the Include on that first one and offsetting it again.

If you have errors (orange/brown) you will not be able to place driving dimensions to those elements.
Once the errors are corrected you should be OK.

I deleted the circles and used Project to Sketch to recreate one of them.  It is still coming out blue.

Is the dimension from the part origin, the sketch circle, or the model cylinder?

I assume you can lock the dim after you put it in?

Maybe attach it so others can take a look?
