How to 2D deploy seamless solids.

Creator

Hello, all.

I do not feel sorry to create another discussion while other discussions are not resolved, but I will try to create it while I have the time.

I would like to expand a solid like a design on the left into 2D like the right with notches cut by red line?

The bent part of the cube is best if there is no break, but it seems that there is no problem even if it can be corrected by 2D.

It may be difficult to read because I am using a translation, but thanking you in advance.

Kind Regards.

Hi @mo333

depending on wether or not the flanges should be equally sized I either would use a contour flane or for the non equal situation, the way via part body and back to PSM

I hope my understanding of Your question was correct.

See attached video:

Wolfgang

Hi there @mo333,

Further to @hawcad's awesome example, you could also make these types of sheet metal parts, as I have done for years, in Solid Edge.....by way of the "Contour Flange" command, and setting the "Options", to close the interior corners.

HI @SeanCresswell

exactly one of my favorite ways to handle this, but only as long as the flanges are equal in size

What would you do when the flanges are not the same size and a slot for springback is required? (Ordered only)

Hi @12GAGE

I would do as I have shonw in the previous post using a full body part, converting to sheet metal.

And - this even only is possible in Ordered.
