Hi,

First of all, I suggest reading StandardPartsUserGuide.chm (c:\Program Files\Solid Edge ST8\Program\ResDLLs\0009\), because it contains info what you need for.

And here is a video about steps:

@Imics,

Thanks for that. No documentation I've seen made any sense to me. Your video does.

I never knew that add from existing part meant that it had to be open in SE.

Now, we are using Insight and our standard parts are on a sequel server. Will added parts go there as well?

@Imics,

I added a part (hilited) to the standard parts library but it doesn't display in the application.

Any ideas?stdpartaddition.PNG

@bshand did you try to create a new category and add to it?

I didn't. I used an existing, native, category. I take it that it is necessary to create a new category even if the part really belongs in the same category? That would mean that the user will have to know to go to another category. One wonders why.

My example involves a bolt which is fully threaded. Full threaded 1-8 unc X 5" bolts are not available in the library but they are available in the real world. And we needed one. So I copied the standard one out, made it full thd, renamed it, and attempted to add it back in thinking it would show up next to the standard one.

Nope. Administrator can see it but not in the regular interface.

I'll give it another go when I get a chance. Don't like this tool. Never did.
