How to create a section of imported part

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hello,

I'm testing out Solid Edge. I've worked through a number of the tutorials and think it is time to try a harder problem. A "real test" if you will. With that I'd like to create a fixture to hold an existing part. I imported the part into Solid Edge and now need to generate the parts necessary for a milling fixture. I'd like to put a cross section on a sketch and design the necessary parts around it. Problem is I can't figure out how to generate a cross section. I could use some help.

Here is the imported part.SolidEdge-imported part.jpgHere's the imported part

Here's what I'm after. I generated the cross section in the original modeling software and imported just to demonstrate what I'm after.SolidEdge-cross-section-example.jpgHere's what I'm after

thanks for your time,
Martins.

Couple of ways.  Both found on the Surfacing ribbon menu.

  • Live Section since you are in Synchronous
  • Intersection

You can use Command Finder to locate them if you are having trouble.

Wonderful. Thank you! I'm sure I'll have tons of these simple questions for the next 6 months or so.
