I am looking to standardize different features in a sheet metal part here at my company. We use may different bosses, beads, wire ties loops, etc.. everyone has a different way of showing the feature in the model. when it comes to flattening the model for CAM the dxf file can become comfusing to the reader. It would be alot easier for them if all the designers would use the same shapes for each feature. the problem i see is there's no good ways to control these. Unlike holes, i am able to create a hole list of punch tools on hand.
The feature library really is not useful when it comes to Sheet metal unless you create one feature for each sheet metal gage used. This can become a hassle and hard to manage.
Also, half of use work in ordered and the other half in sync.
What options do i have to make sure all the designers are using the same modeled features in parts?
Have you made anything for the feature library? I previously worked at a place and made a feature library part that would create bends and cuts for a style of interior access panel. You can do wonders with it...but it is limited
We would also just have charts with profiles and what not...it was the only way to get by on certain things.
As i stated, I find the feature libraury very clunky to use with sheet metal do to needing a feature for each gauge.
It would be great if we had some xls file driving the features, like the holes.
