In assembly, in part, "Cannot be saved", lose all changes

Hi all,

I'm on ST6. Sometimes when I'm in an assembly, I'll try to save a part direct from editing a part and it will give me an error that the part cannot be saved. This then indicates a problem where if I do any work in ANY of the parts after that point, all changes will be lost. This happens even if I save the assembly... and it DOES NOT GIVE A WARNING from saving in the assembly.

I just lost 5 hours of dimensioning for fasteners and I wont get any of that back. Jeeze!

Can anyone guide me on getting around this in the future?

This may be related to the "Thumbs.db" issue in Windows.  The information about it can be found in this thread:  http://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/Solid-Edge-Forum/Solid-Edge-assembly-cannot-be-saved/...
